THE DALLAS EYE EXAM WE PROVIDE
The eye examination consists of two parts:
- The Eye Health Portion
- The Vision Examination Portion
Eye health is the evaluation and treatment of the eye for diseases including but not limited to the detection and treatment of:
- Glaucoma (Nerve damage and loss of side vision)
- Cataract (clouding of the lens in the eye)
- Macular Degeneration
- RetinalDetachment
- Neurological eye signs as in Multiple Sclerosis
- Diabetes (can cause bleeding in the eye)
- High Blood Pressure (can cause narrowing of blood vessels or bleeding)
- Systemic Inflammations as in arthritis or lung disease
- Allergies / Dry Eyes
- Eye Infections as in conjunctivitis (pink eye)
- Chronic lid disease
- Visual field defects caused by strokes, tumors, or glaucoma
- Treatment of eye injury
- Post operative care of cataract, glaucoma and Refractive surgery
The Vision Examination is the portion of the examination is where we evaluate:
- Visual acuity meaning how clear you see
- Refractive error (need for eyeglasses or changes in prescription)
- Suitability of your eyes for laser vision or refractive surgery
- The suitability of your eyes for contact lenses
- The fit of your current contact lenses and subsequent refitting
- Color vision
- Depth perception
- Visual field
- Depth perception
- Ocular muscle coordination and motility
