START WITH A HEALTHY DIET

PROTECT YOUR EYES WITH SAFETY EYEWEAR
Eye injury is a common cause of vision loss. If you work in construction or manufacturing, or if you play a sport like racquetball, hockey, or lacrosse, remember to wear protective glasses.
Excessive exposure to UV rays from the sun can lead to cataracts and macular degeneration. On sunny days, protect your eyes with sunglasses that block out both UVA and UVB rays.
AVOID EYESTRAIN FROM STARING AT A COMPUTER SCREEN
For those of you who work at a computer, staring at the screen all day can lead to eyestrain, headaches, dry eyes, and blurry vision. A good way to avoid these symptoms is to simply look away from your screen for 20 seconds every 20 minutes, and take 15 minute break from your computer at least every 2 hours.
Smoking has been linked to macular degeneration, cataracts, and optic nerve damage. The sooner you quit, the less likely you are to develop these eye conditions.
